Selecting the top designs from this incredibly talented group was no easy task! But we were fortunate to be joined by expert industry judges, including Nancy Fire, Creative Director & Founder of Design Works; Manuela Fassbender, Creative Director of MBF Trend Consulting; and Lorraine Tanyu, Senior Woven Stylist of Lee Jofa Inc. Kornit’s own Omer Kulka, Director of Wide-Format, and Erin Doty, Art Director, also judged the student submissions.

During the judging process, the panel considered both the printed designs and their written concepts. This way, we were provided an explanation of each students’ interpretation of sustainability in their work as well as details of their process such as watercolors, drawing, photography and weaving.

Following an exciting evening of judging, Kornit joined the senior class exhibition where the final awards were given to the top winners.  While the top three students received a total of $6,000, all of the students were winners in our minds! The creativity, the designs, the hard work and their incredible grasp of the importance of sustainability in their chosen profession proves they are all ready to go out there and change the world.

We look forward to the final phase of this program where we’ll showcase the students’ prints at Premier Vision, NY, in July. The exposure the students will receive from this show will be incredible for their portfolios as they continue their job searches. And we’re lucky to have their amazing work to use at this show!

Very special thanks go to Ellen Oster, FIT professor of textile / surface design. We couldn’t have put together such a wonderful program without her guidance, support and incredible mentorship of her students.
