Ampersand Shirt Shack Breezes into Digital!

Kornit catches up with successful apparel printers Ampersand Shirt Shack, to hear how the Kornit Breeze has turned-around business!

Brad Love is the owner of the Ampersand Shirt Shack, a long-time apparel printer and producer, based in Florida’s Treasure Coast. This successful small-town business is hinged on high-quality embroidered apparel, screen and direct-to-garment printing.

“No reason to turn away short runs”

In the ever-evolving market, Love found that Ampersand’s screen printer was not handling short-run apparel jobs. The company was losing money and subsequently forced to turn down certain orders because the smaller jobs were not cost-effective. After initially purchasing another (brand) direct-to-garment digital printer, Love learned that it had production limitations. Ampersand deals with a wide range of orders printed on different textiles, a powerful and versatile option that would still be economical in terms of production costs.

“The in-line pre-treatment is a huge advantage for us”

Love opted to add a Kornit Breeze to the Ampersand production line. The Breeze offers a compact direct-to-garment printer specifically designed for small to mid-sized commercial digital t-shirt print runs. It combines high-quality printing with an affordable solution.

“Our experience so far has been very positive, a 10 on a scale of 1-10,” says Love.

He explains that the Breeze allows his company to handle his typical 50-100 shirt runs without a problem. The system also enables him to expand production without compromising on quality or efficiency.

“We’re expanding production”

“I like the all-in-one solution – printer, ink, software and service,” says Love. “The in-line pre-treatment is a huge advantage for us. The print quality…of the finished garments is great.”

Love sees that partnering with Kornit, its new technology, ongoing support and industry updates, will help him to expand his business. As Ampersand Shirt Shack continues to expand its digital printing production line, the company is set to continue to work with Kornit, while developing its digital print capabilities.
